Rick is The Founder and CEO of Hopeful Acres Ranch, which is an incredible 20 acre property was established in 2018 in San Marcos, Texas. After his transition from military to civilian life Rick had the idea of starting an organization for aligned with his purpose, which is to “reduce suffering.”

Rick grew up on a dairy farm near Crofton, Nebraska. He joined the Army upon graduating high school, and went on to earned a master’s degree in Project Management before retiring from active duty service after 24 years.

Rick’s dream is to bring a healing program to military members, veterans, their families and others in his community that will provide hope, and support to those experiencing physical and/or mental trauma.

Rick holds a CTRI (Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor) certification through PATH (Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship) International, he is a 2024 recipient of the Veterans Resiliency Award and a member of the Veterans Resiliency Coalition Incorporated board of directors.
